They became devising troubles and working evils on their beds, and together with the day they were carrying them out, because they did not lift their hands to God.
Therefore thus says the Lord: behold, I am devising evils against this tribe, from which you shall by no means remove your necks, and you shall by no means walk upright, suddenly, because it is an evil time.
In that day a proverb shall be taken up against you, and a lamentation shall be lamented in a song, saying: We were utterly miserable; the portion of my people was measured with a cord, and there was none to prevent him from turning it back; our fields were divided.
Shall the house of Jacob say, The Spirit of the Lord has been provoked? Are these his practices? Are not his words good with him, and have they not gone uprightly?
Therefore the leaders of my people shall be cast out from their houses of delight because of their evil practices; they were driven out: draw near to the everlasting mountains
You have been pursued, though no one was pursuing; a spirit has set up falsehood; it has dropped for you into wine and into drunkenness, and it shall be from the dripping of this people
Jacob shall surely be gathered together with all; waiting, I will surely receive the remnant of Israel; together I will set them, like sheep in distress, like a flock in the midst of its pasture, they shall leap out from among men
Through the breach before them they broke through and passed through the gate and went out through it, and their king went out before them, and the Lord will lead them.
