about the law of the Most High and the covenant and about judgment to justify the ungodly
concerning a partner’s word and of travelers and concerning the giving of an inheritance of companions
about exactness of scales and weights and about acquiring much and little
about the different dealings of merchants and about much discipline of children and to make a bad slave’s side bloody
Over an evil woman, a seal is good, and where there are many hands, shut up.
Whatever you hand over by number and by weight, and giving and receiving, all in writing
παιδείας ἀνοήτου καὶ μωροῦ καὶ ἐσχατογήρως κρινομένου πρὸς νέους καὶ ἔσῃ πεπαιδευμένος ἀληθινῶς καὶ δεδοκιμασμένος ἔναντι παντὸς ζῶντος
About the discipline of a senseless and foolish man and one of extreme old age who is being judged against the young, and you will be truly disciplined and approved before every living person
πατρὶ ἀπόκρυφος ἀγρυπνία καὶ ἡ μέριμνα αὐτῆς ἀφιστᾷ ὕπνον ἐν νεότητι αὐτῆς μήποτε παρακμάσῃ καὶ συνῳκηκυῖα μήποτε μισηθῇ
A daughter is a hidden wakefulness to a father, and her care drives away sleep; in her youth, lest she grow weak, and when she has dwelt with a husband, lest she be hated.
παρθενίᾳ μήποτε βεβηλωθῇ καὶ ἐν τοῖς πατρικοῖς αὐτῆς ἔγκυος γένηται μετὰ ἀνδρὸς οὖσα μήποτε παραβῇ καὶ συνῳκηκυῖα μήποτε στειρωθῇ
in her virginity, lest she be ever defiled, and in her father’s house, lest she become pregnant; being with a man, lest she transgress, and having lived together, lest she become barren
θυγατρὶ ἀδιατρέπτῳ στερέωσον φυλακήν μήποτε ποιήσῃ σε ἐπίχαρμα ἐχθροῖς λαλιὰν ἐν πόλει καὶ ἔκκλητον λαοῦ καὶ καταισχύνῃ σε ἐν πλήθει πολλῶν
Over an undisciplined daughter set a strict guard, lest she make you a laughingstock to enemies, a talk in the city, and a gathering of the people, and shame you among a great crowd
For every man, do not gaze at beauty, and in the midst of women do not sit together.
For from clothing comes moth, and from a wicked woman the wickedness of a woman.
Better is a man’s wickedness than a woman doing good, and a woman bringing shame to reproach
I will surely remember the works of the Lord, and what I have seen I will recount in the words of the Lord, his works
The sun, giving light upon everything, looked upon it, and his work is full of the glory of the Lord.
ἐξεποίησεν τοῖς ἁγίοις κυρίου ἐκδιηγήσασθαι πάντα τὰ θαυμάσια αὐτοῦ ἃ ἐστερέωσεν κύριος ὁ παντοκράτωρ στηριχθῆναι ἐν δόξῃ αὐτοῦ τὸ πᾶν
He did not make it possible for the holy ones of the Lord to recount all his marvelous works, which the Lord Almighty established for all to be upheld in his glory.
καὶ καρδίαν ἐξίχνευσεν καὶ ἐν πανουργεύμασιν αὐτῶν διενοήθη ἔγνω γὰρ ὁ ὕψιστος πᾶσαν εἴδησιν καὶ ἐνέβλεψεν εἰς σημεῖον αἰῶνος
He has searched out the abyss and the heart, and he pondered their cunning devices; for the Most High knew all knowledge, and he looked into the sign of eternity
declaring the things that have passed and the things that will be and revealing traces of hidden things
No thought passed him by; not one word was hidden from him.
μεγαλεῖα τῆς σοφίας αὐτοῦ ἐκόσμησεν ὡς ἔστιν πρὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα οὔτε προσετέθη οὔτε ἠλαττώθη καὶ οὐ προσεδεήθη οὐδενὸς συμβούλου
The great things of his wisdom he adorned, as it is before eternity and unto eternity; neither was added nor was diminished, and he had need of no counselor
As all his works are desirable, and as a spark it is to behold
All these things live and remain unto the age in all needs, and all obey.
All things are in pairs, one opposite the one, and he made nothing lacking.
One of one he has established the good things, and who will be filled seeing his glory?
